Hideout Coffee has built a strong following in Portsmouth city centre for its speciality coffee and doughnuts, but the independent venue has now expanded its offering with the launch of a new sandwich menu focused on freshly prepared ingredients and great flavours.

Having already established itself as one of the city’s more popular coffee spots, Hideout recently invited us in to try the new range of sandwiches, which has been designed to complement the existing menu we all know and love, whilst still giving customers more substantial lunch options throughout the day.

The new menu features a variety of sandwiches and filled focaccia style creations, combining homemade sauces, marinated fillings and fresh ingredients across both meat and vegetarian options.

Among the additions is the Hot Honey Chicken, featuring a sliced chicken breast, marinated in a sticky hot honey chilli sauce, layered with lettuce and homemade garlic mayo, while the vegan Hot Maple Tofu offers a plant-based alternative using tofu, marinated in a maple chilli glaze, with vegan garlic mayo and house slaw.

The Meatball Massacre combines homemade pork and beef meatballs, with marinara sauce and whipped ricotta, while the Mortadella sandwich includes burrata, pesto and toasted pistachios, finished with olive oil.

Other additions include the Pastrami-Geddon, stacked with beef pastrami, Monterey Jack cheese, pickles and mustard, alongside a Philly Cheesesteak filled with sliced steak, melted cheese, onion jam and charred peppers.

Vegetarian options continue with the Hummus-cide, built around homemade jalapeño hummus, roasted peppers and crispy garlic chickpea crumb.

Each sandwich is served alongside the venue’s house slaw, helping position the new menu as a more complete lunch offering within the city centre. As independent coffee shops increasingly diversify beyond drinks and pastries alone, Hideout Coffee’s expanded menu feels like a natural progression for a venue already well regarded within Portsmouth’s growing independent food and coffee scene.
