Mumms Cafe continues to impress with its recently-developed and modernised interior and expanded menu. The breakfast highlights include great value for a large, perfectly cooked dish that is both comforting and extremely satisfying. The space feels warm, relaxed and inviting, much the contrast to when I used to frequent here as a child and into my student years; my first ever dining experiences took place in this very establishment. This place is ideal for everything from a casual morning coffee spot to a place where you’d be forgiven to have a naughty brunch full of fried bread and plenty of sausages following a morning shop at the many surrounding independent shops.
Owner Kutsaloba Altin had previously managed both Nemrut and Mehmet, but more recently he’s been responsible for transforming this cafe whilst still maintaining its charm, and the service remains friendly and personal. Mumms Cafe exemplifies how bold interior improvements can create an ever-lasting impact in Southsea’s vibrant cafe scene. This infamous cafe continues to grow on its success and remains a significant part of Southsea’s food and drink scene, which has successfully adapted to modern trends and remaining current to this day.
Mumms Cafe is located opposite the Festing pub, in the Festing Buildings (Highland Road, Southsea, PO4 9BZ).
See the last image from the photo gallery below, this is how the space used to look from how I remembered it.
