Portsmouth has firmly established itself as a destination for craft beer lovers from across the UK. This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Yorkshire’s Micropub Adventures to experience just how vibrant the craft beer scene has become down south.

Over two days, more than 20 pubs and breweries were explored, all within easy reach of our beautiful coastline, showcasing the depth and variety Portsmouth now has to offer.

We visited a fantastic selection of venues including Staggeringly Good, MAKEMAKE, The Brewers Tap, Sir Loin of Beef, The Merchant House, Ted’s, Beer Vaults, The Phoenix, Huis, Hole in the Wall, Meat & Barrel and FARFAROUT.

Earlier in the week, we ventured further afield, visiting places such as Powder Monkey, 33 Green Bottles, Casemates, Drayton Tavern, Beer to Eternity, Portcullis, West Street Alehouse, The Gate, Four Ale, Fossil Thief and The Old Customs House. This part of the trail proved that you can enjoy a full day of craft beer discovery even without alcohol, as each venue offered a great selection of non-alcoholic beers for the driver among us.

To cap things off, we organised a 29-person tasting at Beer Vaults within the same week, bringing everyone together to enjoy the best of craft beer out there.

The city’s craft beer scene is thriving, attracting attention far beyond the South Coast. If you haven’t already, why not plan your own beer trail and discover what’s brewing right here in Portsmouth? Or join us for our own pub crawl taking place next week, details for this are in the events section of our website.

A huge thanks to Micropub Adventures for visiting, and to my fellow local bloggers for joining the tour; Mat from Staggeringly Wood, Ree from The Crafty Brew Belle and Scott Reviews Things. Special shoutouts also go to Meat & Barrel and Powder Monkey Brewing Co for providing outstanding food to fuel our adventures.
