Before venturing into Victorious this year, we began one of the days at The Briny, one of Southsea’s best-loved independents and a true seafront favourite on the newly-developed promenade. Positioned right near the pebbled beach, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a cooked breakfast with the sound of the waves and seeing the sunshine spilling across the Solent. Sitting there, coffee in hand, it’s one of those moments that reminds you just how lucky we are to have places like this on our doorstep.
Serving up excellent food and drink with a casual beachfront vibes is The Briny’s passion. It’s a culmination of years of experience, brought together by the newest generation of restaurateurs in this family-run business. With panoramic sea views from every table outside, a friendly service and ingredients sourced from the best local suppliers, it’s no surprise this spot has become a South Coast must-visit.
Head Chef Cameron leads a talented kitchen team who take pride in showing each ingredient the respect it deserves. The Briny Breakfast (£14.50) includes Cumberland sausages, bacon, fried egg, field mushroom, plum tomato, beans and toast, with the option to add black pudding for £3. I personally love hash browns, so I added four golden hash browns to my order which brought the price up quite considerably (additional £4.50).
