Eclipse Kitchen is a recent and welcome addition to Albert Road in Southsea, having opened its doors in early December 2025. From the outset, it has positioned itself as a place for authentic Greek and Mediterranean food, rooted firmly in family tradition.

The restaurant is proudly family-run and led by Vana, whose 15 years of experience in the kitchen are evident in every dish. Having grown up in Greece, her cooking is based on traditional recipes from her native country, prepared by her and her family with care and confidence. She is supported by her son Oresti, her husband Emiljo, her sister-in-law Nisa, her daughter Jenny, and Sara, who assists in the kitchen. Together, they have created an atmosphere that feels warm and personal, closer to being welcomed into a Greek home than dining in a conventional restaurant.

Our visit began with breakfast, offering a clear contrast between familiar English and Mediterranean flavours. The traditional English breakfast delivered all the expected classics, while the Mediterranean breakfast stood out for its variety and balance, featuring halloumi, feta, filo pie, olives and simit. To accompany this, the Island Blend smoothie was fresh and light on the palate, and the Freddo Cappuccino provided an authentic Greek touch, served cold, this was one of the best coffees I’ve had in a while.

For the main course, we shared the Mixed Grill for two. This was a generous and well-executed platter, featuring chicken, lamb, pork, beef and sausage, all expertly cooked by Emiljo on the grill, just metres from where we were sat. Each meat was packed full of flavour and prepared with the perfect seasoning to accompany, making it their flagship dish perfect for sharing.

Dessert was not overlooked either, despite being a little full by this point. The chocolate mousse was indulgent without being too heavy, while the traditional Greek baklava showcased handmade pastry and a careful balance of sweetness, the perfect end to the experience.

Eclipse Kitchen is an excellent choice for anyone who values authentic Greek food, family-run restaurants, and cooking that reflects genuine cultural heritage. It brings a taste of Greece to the centre of Albert Road, in a way that feels sincere, welcoming and thoughtfully executed.

Eclipse Kitchen is located at 165-167 Albert Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, PO4 0JW.
