Are you team muffin or team roll?
Hoggies Hog Roast breakfast menu is insanely good! Fully loaded with all the extras, you get bacon, square sausage, hash brown, black pudding and a perfectly fried egg. Asking for everything is the easy part, deciding whether to go for the classic roll or the toasted muffin is the option I found very difficult. Breakfast in Southsea doesn’t get much better than this place.
For their opening, Jacob (from Pompey Bites Explores) and I headed to Hoggies, officially launched by Pompey legend Alan Knight MBE. After years of this old butchers on Marmion Road being hidden behind the guises of previous restaurants, co-owners Mark, Lewis and Simon have brought it back to life, keeping the charm of the 19th-century building while transforming it into Southsea’s newest food spot.
With Simon’s background as head chef at The Queen’s Hotel, expectations were high for their opening but they sure didn’t disappoint. Every dish looked incredible, especially the slow-roasted hog with crispy crackling; all built around fresh local produce and bold flavours.
Hoggies Hog Roast feels like the kind of place you’ll return to again and again!
